Erasmus?
As a Master student in a Swedish university, I have the option to go exchange for a semester in a partner university of Linköping University. An opportunity like that, I cannot refused it! Not that I’m completely over Sweden, no. But after more than a year and a half, I start wanting to see something else…
One advantage of having been in my French Business School ,was to be able to go one year abroad as an exchange student in Växjö, Sweden. However, it wasn’t part of the European program Erasmus, it was only a partnership between the ESC Bretagne Brest and Linnaeus Universitet. So, I haven’t taken advantage of this wonderful program, yet. So I can now apply for these benefits and study in a different country for a semester.

Basically, if you haven’t seen the Auberge Espagnole by Cedric Klapisch, Erasmus is about studying in an European university with which your own university has established a partnership to exchange students in different program. From my perspective, studying abroad is a great opportunity to discover a new culture, meet incredible friends, develop or learn a language, open his mind, etc..
February, 1st was the deadline of Linköping University to drop off applications and motivations for Erasmus. My choices do not reflect the universities with which LiU has a partnership (e.g. the list of partner universities with the Faculty of Economics), it’s not that simple! I had to find an university offering the European Master’s courses similar to those of my 3rd semester in the SMIO program. Then, everything must be approved by the program director, who is not available at all for that. Finally, nothing is possible for students who have not earned a minimum of 45 ECTS credits during their education in Sweden. For my part, I only gained 37.5 ECTS credits for the first semester, but I already disposed of 67.5 ECTS credits obtained during my years at Linnaeus University!
- Universiteit Gent (Ghent University, Belgium)
- École de Management de Grenoble (Grenoble School of Business, France)
- Philipps-Universität Marburg (Marburg University, Germany)
- Univerza v Ljubljani (University of Ljubljana, Slovenia)
- Handelshøjskolen i København (Copenhagen Business School, Denmark)
- Szkoła Główna Handlowa w Warszawie (Warsaw Business School, Poland)
- University of Surrey (England)
- Otto-von-Guericke-University (Magdeburg, Germany)
All students who applied for Erasmus will be ranked according to their grades, motivations, and all the rest… Then, the student will validate his first choice if there is still places left in the university. For example, the 15th student might only get his 3rd choice because the first two universities were already full. Now I have to wait until mid-March to find out where I can go and then accept it…or not.
