At the end of every year, Linkoping usually takes on a whole new look. There are Christmas lights around the city as early as November setting the tone for the Christmas festivities.
A very essential part of those festivities are the Christmas markets. These markets present an early opportunity to purchase Christmas trees just in case Santa Claus decides to make an early stop to drop presents under the trees (hint: black Friday sales).
These annual markets also provide an early taste of Christmas menus. From the Christmas ham to the pork sausage. Then, there is the herring salad, lutfisk (a special fish dish) and of course, the glogg (mulled red wine).
This year has not been any different at Trädgårdsföreningen and Gamla linkoping. The aroma of Christmas dishes in the air. People at different stands offering free tastings and bands moving around playing Christmas hymns. Santa was also around for pictures and to give a brief history lesson about Christmas.
If you love Christmas, then Linkoping should be on your list of places to visit at Christmas. Another reason to study at LIU.
