Understanding the Swedish labour market

Information for international researchers and their accompanying spouses or partners

Do you consider pursuing a career in Sweden and wish to gain insights into the Swedish labour market? If yes, join us for this webinar as you will get an overview of:

  • The main sectors, which ones have shortages or surpluses, the role of employers’ organisations and trade unions, labour law;
  • The working conditions, including contracts, salary, working hours, social codes at work;
  • What you should take into account when looking for work, how to find employers and vacancies, how to approach employers, which application documents you must have;
  • The unemployment insurance.

Lecturers: Banna Thioubou, Anders Carlsson Eklund and Thomas Engel, EURES-advisers at Arbetsförmedlingen, the Swedish Public Employment Service.

When? You can choose one of the two following dates:

  • Thursday, 11th November – time: 11.00 to 12.00
  • Tuesday, 16th November – time: 17.00 to 18.00

Workshop on intercultural communication

Employees who work in multicultural contexts, or are interested in learning more about intercultural communication are welcome to join this workshop. It is intended to help you gain insights about the dynamics of intercultural encounters, strengthen your cultural intelligence and provide you with tools for working in multicultural and intercultural environments.

The workshop is part of a collaboration between universities in Sweden that are part of the network Euraxess. That means that participants from other universities are welcome to join. The workshop is held online by Linnaeus University. The number of participants is limited so make sure to register early. Spouses are welcome to join.
