2015-2014
What would an artificial intelligence write if it wrote poetry? Would it be different? Different from what? And who could tell? Such and similar questions are raised in Johannes Heldén’s and Håkan Jonson’s Evolution (www.textevolution.net, OEI editör, 2015) – a digital-poetic variation of the famous Turing Game. The questions are further explored in the four short essays presented here as a temporary microbook in the making. In the essays we – Ingvarsson, Lien, Lindhé, and Olsson – discuss the algorithmic poetics of Heldén and Jansson, while also linking their adventure in writing and code to a history of literature and media, rhetorics and information theory. As such it is part of the mapping of how Swedish literature and art has represented and reconfigured ’the digital’ during the last half century.
